A new approach to stress. Its always been there…you just haven’t used it yet

Do you find yourself overwhelmed, anxious or stressed by everyday events?

You may not realise it but you have the ability to change the way you react to stress, and even trauma, using inbuilt techniques every animal on the planet uses to survive.

We often see animals shaking when they are scared. They do this to release their natural physical responses to fear, de-stressing themselves and becoming relaxed again.

Think of a dog coming to sit next to you on bonfire night, they will gently tremor to ‘shake off’ their fear of loud noises.

We as human can do this too – and we can easily learn how with TRE (Tension, Stress & Trauma Release Exercises).

Every time we react to something we’re scared of or anxious about our bodies respond in a physical way and this affects our minds too. It is a constant flow of information. However, after we’ve experienced the stress we often don’t bring ourselves back to normality in a healthy way.

A glass of wine, a cigarette or even bottling it up are all normal, but long term, they are unhelpful responses to stress.

How Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (TRE tremors) can help you

Learning to use TRE (shaking meditation) will enable you to utilise a natural response mechanism that has always been there (you just haven’t used it yet!) It helps you gently release the physical responses of stress and trauma and helps you feel safe, relaxed and in control again.

Unlike some techniques TRE does not force you to re-live past trauma.

Crucially, it also doesn’t ask you to imagine yourself feeling calm when that’s the last thing you feel able to do! Maybe you feel like you really need to move your body to feel better. With TRE you learn to use your natural physical response (shaking, stretching or tremoring) to enable your body to heal itself and bring you back normal. Plus it feels great!

It may look strange, but its no stranger than shivering in the cold. Learning to ‘shake off’ your fear, stress and anxiety will benefit you now and help build your resilience for the future.

Regularly using TRE is often life changing for many.  It is best to learn TRE with a trained professional. You can do this by joining a group or by learning over a series of individual sessions. Once learned, you have this incredible skill to help yourself….forever.
